Carnation Michael Nesmith's Drag Boat Sold For $7,000 On Craigslist

   Carnation Michael Nesmith's Drag Boat
    Dean Jeffries designed Carnation in 1967.
  It was Michael Nesmith's Drag Boat with a
  wooden front, you can see in the picture.
  Engine is a Pontiac with two carburetors on
  a manifold with diagonal carburetors, set up
  There are two scoops mounted on top of
  the four barrel carburetors with screens in
  front of the scoops. A Ray Craft Flat Bottom
  Boat from 1967 was what Dean Jeffries used,
  to customize Carnation, Michael Nesmith's
  Drag Boat.
   A man from San Francisco bought the drag
 boat in 2013, hoping to restore it. He put it on
 Craigslist and sold in 2015 for $7,000 in the
 Marina of San Francisco. Here is how the
 drag boat was originally with Dean Jeffries
 and Michael Nesmith and a Pontiac 389 CID
 for power with those cool twin carburetors and
 scoops with screens.

Michael Nesmith Gifted Composer Musician

Michael Michael Nesmith Musical Composer
    Michael Nesmith was born
Robert Michael Nesmith on
December 30, 1942; in the city
of Houston Texas; but his dad
left his mother. They move to
Dallas Texas to be closer to
their relatives.
      Beth took part time in
clerical design; and touch
typing, which she developed
her clerical skills. While at
work; her idea of a thin white
type paint; to cover over
typing mistakes; seemed to be
very handy. His mother had
invented Liquid Paper, and
over the next twenty-five
years, turn it into a multi-
million dollar business. In
1979 she sold  it to Gellette
for $48,000,000. A little
after this; she died at the
young age of fifty-six.
      In 1960, since Michael
didn't graduate high school;
he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
for basic training. Then he
was at Wichita Falls. He was
trained; to be a airplane
mechanic, and next sent to one
more airbase; so in 1962;
Michael received a G.E.D.
and honorably discharged;
from the air force.
      In 1962, Michael had
enrolled in a Community
College; in San Antonio.
He met John Keen; and
the two of them; worked
together, with their music.
They won the first ever;
San Antonio College
Award in folk music; with
some of Michael's songs.
It was here; he met Phyllis
a saxophone student, and
after working on poetry;
and songs; they married
in 1963.
      Then 1963 Michael
and Phyllis; had  moved
to Los Angeles; so that
Michael; could work on
his own song writing;
and music career.
      It was at this time; his
wife Phyllis was pregnant;
with Christian.
      Michael began singing;
in folk clubs in Los Angeles.
      Michael was the Hoot
Master; on Monday night,
singing in the Hootin' Annie
as the Troubadour ;in the
city of West Hollywood. It
is at this night club; that
Michael, was entertaining,
with new artist songs; the
new virgin LA scene; and
performed; with the group;
New Christian Minstrels.
He met Barry Sparks; who
was willing to publish
Michael's songs. It was this
same publishing house;
Michael met the man, who
was Barry Freeman; that
brought the The Monkees
act to his attention.
   Michael Blessing was
the first to be on the record
label Copix Records, before
Davy Jones. (Michael used
Blessing under the Colpix
lable in 1965. Many Of the
videos are here.)
   When the time for Mike
to go into his screen test;
two things, made him land
the part as Mike. One his
laundry was in a bag; and
two, his wool hat that he
wore; because he rode a
motorcycle.
   On October 1965; Mike
got the part; of the band
The Monkees.
   It was required; you
really did have to have;
musical talent.
Yes, Michael did
have the talent.
(Troubadour address
It's at 9081 Santa Monica
Boulevard,at...
West Hollywood, CA)
Itwas here; that Michael
met Barry Sparks; who
wanted to publish Michael's
songs.
   The Monkees Pilot; had
both Michael; encouraging
Davy Jones; when he had
gone out; with a high school
girl, and also both them; had
their screen test at the end
of the show.
    There was also the rare
black and white pilot; with
two other members, helping
with this rare The Monkees
pilot. (It has the actor who
played Mr. Whiffle in the
Don't Squeeze the Charmin
commercials.)
   It was at The Troubadour.

   It was 1966; Michael had
composed a song for the group
The Stone Ponies, featuring

Linda Ronstadt; the song
Different Drum. Both types
are here; for  your listening
pleasure.
    I included Michael's
Papa Gene Blues; that does
match the background; that
was composed; by Michael.
Michael Nesmith sold it; to
the record labels, which in
this case was Colgems a
Division of Columbia.
    Also, are full episodes; in
which; Michael composed;
Papa Genes Blues; and then
Sweet Young Thing; and
last, All The Kings Horses.
(Ladies, Davy rides the horse;
both bare back and with his
colorful jockey uniform.)
In The Audition; (Find The-
Monkees) Three composed
songs; of Michael Nesmith
are used. Mary Mary, then
Sweet Young Thing, and
last, Papa Genes Blues.
   Michael Nesmith had
written Papa Genes Blues
as his first song. Next,
Mary Mary written in
1966;was first recorded;
by The Paul Butterfield-
Band Blues. Elektra was
their record label on
their new album East West.
    It was such a shame; that
people treated; the president
of Elektra; with very much
disrespect, after the new
band The Monkees came
out with their version.
   Michael Nesmith had

written it, Mary Mary to
be a hit. However, he had
never considered that he
would sing lead on it, but
chose Micky Dolenz to
sing lead.
   Michael Nesmith had
You Just Be The One, and
Girl I Knew Somewhere,
which used a lot in the very
show. You see, The Monkees
jumping over; this water type
area, with speed, confidence,
style and agility. Both cool
Michael Nesmith's, composed
songs, should have been; wild
number one songs. Along with
the famous; Mary Mary song;
composed by Michael. It is
no wonder why; most the wild
songs; for The Monkees tours;
are focused; on Michael's wild
compositions; of musical songs.
   What Am I Hangin' Around;
while sung by Michael Nesmith,
was a favor; that he asked; gifted
Michael Murphy; to compose it;
for their next album. This is how;
this famous song; came about.
   Davy Jones, is drag racing the
# 2 Monkee-mobile. Here's a
clip of Shelby's Cobra
Daytona Coupe. Lower
below; you see a wreath
around Davy's neck; winning
with The Monkee-mobile.
below.

    Another song that
Michael  Nesmith sung,
was Chip Douglas; cool
Door To Summer.

   Mann/Weil were the
ones who composed the
Love Is Only Sleeping,
first Moog synthesizer
song; with Nesmith to
be the first to sing, by
the use of a MOOG
synthesizer.
  The Monkees episode;
called: The Prince and-
the Pauper. Michael
was to guard over; the
lovable Davy Jones; in
the story. Mary Mary is
sung. (Davy Jones plays
two roles; the prince and
himself.)
  Also Heather North; did
play two roles, as both the
beautiful Wendy; and the
pretty fashion teen girl;
that Davy Jones kissed; at
the end of the show. But

more. Heather North was
featured; in more of the
episodes; of The Monkees
then any other woman.
Here are The Monkees;
with the lovable, pretty,
Donna Loren; as the
Princess Collette; she
wanted to be married
to Davy Jones; in the
in the story, to be a
protection; from forced
marriage, by a wicked
man. The three Monkees
agreed; since they would;
be highly rewarded; and
be Davy Jones royal
staff; with woman; and
all together. This  is  the
episode: Everywhere A-
Sheik, Sheik. The songs:
Love Is Only Sleeping;
Michael Nesmith, then
Cuddly Toy; Davy Jones.
    Below, My Living Doll;
Catwoman, Julie Newmar;
is in The Monkees; is the
most popular episode.

   Below is The Monkees -
At The Circus; a  full episode
with Some Time In The -
Morning, and Words, in
grey suits. This has the
pretty brunette; with the
gorgeous blue eyes.
       Man, Michael Nesmith
is a gifted composer, also
musician, then a singer.
   Love Is Only Sleeping is
the first MOOG synthesizer
song; which Micky; is playing;
his own that was sung by
Nesmith; then Star Collector;
with Davy, and last, the cool;
composed, Michael Nesmith
song, played by Micky Dolenz;
using his Moog synthesizer, as
well as; singing lead on Daily
Nightly.

    Papa Genes Blues; was
first used; in the episode:
Ghost Town;  of the very
cool group; The Monkees.
also matching; the cool back-
ground, with the same suits.

    Different Drum was from
life hand experience; in the
Romantic city of Paris; in
France in 1955. The pretty
lady; was named Marge who
wanted to be a mother. Then
the dashing man ;was to also
looking for a lover. It is
explained; in Michael Nesmith's;
later, Different Drum songs. It
gives you; the feeling of being;
in Paris France. The music
takes you there ladies; so why
not put on something pretty
on, and lay back ;and then,
listen to this song.The story
is one the sunlight cafes;
with cobblestone. Marge is
wearing a scarf, sandals and
large sunglasses, next the man
across her table; is dashing.
You hear the mandolin play;-
as you  feel like you are in Paris.
 Michael explains, before they
can be in love; they must love;
 the same things.
   This causes tension. Then the
man feels like this song; called;
Different Drum.

Carrie Underwood also
sings Different Drum.
Also, Susanna Hoff sings;
Different Drum; in the
same;West Hollywood,
famous nightclub; that
Michael Nesmith; was
singing every Monday
night; and found out
about; the audition of
The Monkees. He did
get the part; in October
1965. This is the real
story; of how this came
about; as Michael used;
his gifted abilities; to
compose music for
The Monkees part; as
Mike in The Monkees.
